School Based Therapist

The school based therapist provides mental health counseling, case management and consultation services to enrolled students and their families. Therapist also provides psycho-education and consultation to staff at the school site in which they are employed. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct group, individual, and/or family therapy for each student 
  • Must maintain a minimum caseload as indicated by Site Director/Clinical Director
  • Create and monitor individual plans with goals for each student
  • Work collaboratively and provide consultation with school staff
  • Record and document all client and collateral contacts
  • Assist with crisis intervention and treatment
  • Attend all relevant trainings
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and present cases as required

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling
  • Registration with the BBS
  • Bilingual abilities preferred
  • At least one year’s experience working in an academic setting
  • Fulfillment of TB test, fingerprinting and state clearance, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements

Site Director

The Site Director is the “face” of CASSY.  It is his or her primary responsibility to be current on all cases and referrals as well as to provide mental health counseling, case management and consultation services to enrolled students and their families. The site director also provides psycho-education and consultation to staff at the school site in which they are employed. 

Responsibilities

  • Collect and compile statistical information from each CASSY therapist
  • Maintain client referral list 
  • Provide reports to school staff and funders as requested
  • Participate in interview process with potential therapeutic candidates
  • Communicate with Executive Director on programs, human resource issues, potential contract opportunities, and consultation
  • Serve as a community liaison to connect families with outside referrals/resources
  • Consult regularly with outside professionals which may include CPS, CAMFT, School Resource Officers and BBS
  • Attend all case related meetings as requested by school staff, including SST, IEP, disciplinary meetings for all CASSY clients

If providing clinical supervision, additional responsibilities would include the following:

  • Provide clinical supervision to interns as mandated by the BBS guidelines
  • Be available for observation of individual or family therapy, or crisis consultation as needed
  • Review and approve therapist paperwork

Qualifications

  • LCSW, MFT or licensed Clinical Psychologist for two years or more and registered with the BBS
  • Bilingual abilities preferred
  • Fulfillment of TB test, fingerprinting and state clearance, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
