After the tragic loss of a 15-year-old student to suicide in mid September at Saratoga High School, CASSY therapists stepped in to offer social and emotional support on campus in the immediate aftermath of the crisis. Saratoga High School later decided to officially bring CASSY on board to provide ongoing support 20 hours per week. Kim Cousens, a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of experience working with youth, now offers counseling services to the entire student body. She is also available for parent and staff consultation and is beginning a new peer counseling program at SHS based on one implemented at Gunn High School in Palo Alto.
