Do Good This December
Doing good to others can do you good in a whole host of ways. Studies have shown that volunteering lowers stress, reduces biomarkers of cardiovascular disease, and even helps people lose weight. According to the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley, practicing acts of kindness makes you genuinely happier, “improves our sense of social connection, purpose in life, and can even help us live longer, healthier lives.”
The folks at Action for Happiness would like to encourage us to spread some kindness this December. They’ve put together a calendar of suggestions of small actions we can take to help others and help ourselves feel better at the same time.
You can download and print the calendar here.
Action for Happiness is a “movement of people taking action to create a happier and kinder world, together.” A non-religious, non-sectarian organization, it helps people “learn evidence-based skills for happier living, feel a sense of belonging and commit to personal action to create more happiness, for ourselves and others.”
