Rise and Shine and You’ll Feel Fine… After a Certain Amount of Time

An alarm clock and a notebook surrounded by lots of numbers to symbolize the need for priorities and time management

We’ve all been there. The alarm goes off and you’re not ready to wake up. “Just five more minutes, then I’ll go to bed.”  Time flies, and the minutes turn into hours. Soon, it’s three A.M. and you have to wake up for school in the morning. Don’t fret, here are some tips for you to better your sleep schedule, and help you stay happy and healthy during the day.

  • Make a schedule. By doing this, you will have completed the assignments you need to do, and by the time bedtime rolls around, there will be no scrambling to finish any schoolwork.
  • Be more aware of the time. If you say “five more minutes,” set an alarm to ensure that the five more minutes does not turn into thirty more minutes.
  • Set your phone in a different room. It is hard, I know, but instead of scrolling on Tik Tok, your mind could be getting the rest it needs and deserves.
  • If you can’t sleep, try to relax yourself. Meditation, listening to music, and other things can all help you calm down if you are feeling extra energetic.

Sleep is very important for people of all ages. It is recommended for people ages 14-17 to get at least 8-10 hours of sleep per night. This is probably something you have heard  before, but it is true, and important. Sleeping helps the mind refresh itself and take a break from the stress in everyday life.

~“When the going gets tough, the tough take a nap.” — Tom Hodgkinson

~No day is so bad it can’t be fixed with a nap.” — Carrie Snow

~“A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.” — Irish Proverb (Borden’s Blather)

Remember, sleep is your friend, not your enemy. By the way, people sleep better in dark rooms. Make sure to turn off the lights, unplug from social media, make the temperature one that is comfortable, and have sweet dreams, goodnight.
