Try Mindfulness This March

According to the American Psychological Association, mindfulness has become “a popular way to help people manage their stress and improve their overall well-being — and a wealth of research shows it’s effective.” Used to relieve stress and combat depression, it can improve both our physical and mental health.

What exactly is mindfulness meditation?

Meditation is a way of “training your attention to achieve a mental state of calm concentration and positive emotions,” says the APA. Mindfulness is a popular meditation technique with two essential parts: attention and acceptance.

  • Attention – focusing on what is happening in the present moment
  • Acceptance – learning to observe your feelings and physical sensations without judgment. You simply take note of them –– without attempting to analyze or change them –– and then let them go.

The people at Action for Happiness have designed the March calendar with mindfulness in mind. They offer a set of small daily actions designed to help you “pause, breathe, and notice” in order to learn to live more in the moment.

You can download and print the calendar here.

Action for Happiness is a “movement of people taking action to create a happier and kinder world, together.” A non-religious, non-sectarian organization, it helps people “learn evidence-based skills for happier living, feel a sense of belonging and commit to personal action to create more happiness, for ourselves and others.”
