CASSY Welcomes Ken Toren as New Executive Director

We are delighted to welcome Ken Toren as CASSY’s new Executive Director.

An accomplished nonprofit and business executive, Ken brings extensive leadership experience across healthcare, technology, and mission-driven organizations. He combines a commitment to community service with expertise in organizational growth, business development, strategic partnerships, and operational leadership.

Most recently, Ken served as Regional Vice President and Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association. Previously, he spent seven years as CEO of the American Red Cross of Silicon Valley. His leadership experience also includes Hope Services, Parkinson’s Institute, and Cancer CAREpoint. Throughout his career, he has helped mobilize more than $600 million in nonprofit fundraising and engage 30,000+ volunteers.

Ken also brings significant private-sector experience, having founded start-ups and scaled public technology companies, raised more than $20 million in venture capital and led mergers and acquisitions. His experience in developing new markets, expanding services, and creating sustainable revenue opportunities will help position CASSY for continued growth and broader impact.

An elected Monte Sereno City Councilmember, Ken brings additional experience in government relations, public policy advocacy, and civic leadership, reflecting his lifelong commitment to serving and strengthening communities.

“Ken recognizes the importance of honoring and building on what has made CASSY so successful: our people and the trusted relationships we’ve built with our partners,” said Kevin Crouch, Chair of CASSY’s Board of Directors. “He has the ability to articulate and shape a forward-looking vision for CASSY and, just as importantly, the experience and values to bring a team along with him.”

We also extend our deep gratitude to Mary Cheryl B. Gloner, MBA, MPH, who has served as CASSY’s Interim Executive Director since January 2025. Mary provided steady leadership through a period of transition, demonstrating unwavering commitment to our mission and the students, families, and school communities we serve. Her leadership and the dedication of the entire CASSY team have sustained high-quality mental health services and positioned the organization for continued growth.

Since 2009, CASSY has made mental health support accessible to over 300,000 students across the Bay Area.
